Liposuction is the best treatment to make your face or body the shape you want. The doctor will take into account your already existing body type and consider the shape or contours you want.

For the body, liposuction is most often done on the thighs, hips, abdomen, and arms. For the face, the double chin area is the most commonly treated by the doctor.

There are four main ways liposuction can be done. The method used depends on your case and the doctor’s preferred method.

These are the different types of liposuction

Suction-assisted liposuction
This is the most commonly used type of liposuction. The doctor injects a mixture of salt water and two medicines into the area that's being treated. The salt water aids fat removal while the medicine relieves pain. The other medicine narrows the blood vessels.

Ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL)
The doctor sometimes combines this with traditional liposuction. During UAL, the surgeon inserts a metal rod that sends ultrasonic energy under the skin. This energy opens the fat-cell walls and breaks down the fat for easier removal.

Laser-assisted liposuction (LAL)
This is also called SmartLipo. With LAL, the surgeon makes a small incision in the skin and inserts a laser fiber to dissolve fat deposits. A tiny tube is then used to extract the fat.

Power-assisted liposuction (PAL)
This type of liposuction uses a thin tube that moves back and forth quickly. The vibration allows the doctor to pull out the fat. PAL may sometimes cause less pain and swelling than other techniques. It also can allow the surgeon to remove fat more accurately.

Korean doctors are excellent at liposuction, since it is such an often performed surgery here. The doctors use a microcannula, which minimizes damage to the surrounding skin tissue. Doctors also specialize in getting as much fat out of the area and cause as little bleeding as possible. Furthermore, incisions are made in areas that are barely visible, which means that you do not have to worry about scarring after the surgery.
